Eightieth Connection:Deceptively simple
Putting aside explorations into organization or other concept based limits, sometimes it’s more about making something within the confines of the two-dimensional compositional world. Don’t be fooled – it’s easy to get lost or lose your way in this deceptively simple space. In this detail from my drawing Fundamental Core Components ©2012, the focus is on creating the illusion of movement with flat shapes and full on (slightly feverish, nightmarish) colors. There is no concern for modeling the surfaces to show volume. Curving lines and some variety in size of repeated shapes provide hints of shallow depth of field in what otherwise seems to be an extreme close-up.
