Eighty-second Connection: Exhilaration and fear
Something about sighting birds is magical. Birds with their ability to fly seem to have a freedom that we do not. They appear and disappear, as if they can enter and leave the world we share at will. Imagining this kind of existence, I feel exhilaration and also fear. What would it be like to fly away? What if you could not find your way back? What if you could find your way but choose not to? Bird Stories ©1986, an installation of side bound artists’ books features an image of a bird on each cover. Inside is a remembrance of seeing each specific variety of bird. Below each book is a strip of paper featuring an embossed single word. The text reads: Gravity Ruin Shadows Weakness.
